Ladder Stitch Crocheted Dishcloth
The stitch I used for this cloth combines all
of my favorite qualities for a dishcloth: The fabric is dense and
absorbent, there is plenty of texture for scrubbing, it really takes
advantage of the color changes of the variegated yarns, and it is quick
and easy.
Materials:
1 ball Peaches and Crème- sample is done in
color #148, Shaded Blue
H-8(5.0 mm) crochet hook -or the size you are
comfortable with- the pattern looks best when the stitches are a bit
tight.
Stitches used:
Ch- chain
SC- single crochet
DC- double crochet
Pattern:
pattern stitch can be worked over any multiple
of 4 stitches. My cloth using 28 stitches is about 7" square.
Foundation:
Chain 29, SC in second chain from hook, and in
each chain across, Ch 1, turn (28 SC)
Row 1) *SC in first stitch, CH 2 (skip the 2
stitches beneath the Ch 2), SC in next stitch* to end, Ch 1 turn
Row 2) *SC in first stitch, working behind the
Ch space, DC into stitch below, twice, SC in next SC* to end, chain 1
turn
repeat these 2 rows until cloth is nearly
square.
End with a row of SC., and hide ends
