Supplies:
1 Skein Elmore Pisgah Country Cotton Cabled Article 940
1 Pair size 7 (US) single  point needles
Tapestry needle
Scissors



Book Tag:

Knit border of garter or moss stitch for 1 inch, Knit 3 rows stockinette
ending with a purl row, then begin pattern.

Pattern:

Cast on: 15 Stitches
Row 1(RS): B2,k5,yo,k2tog,k4,B2.
Row 2 and all even rows: B2,*p*,B2.
Row 3: B2,k4,(yo,k2tog) x2,k3,B2.
Row 5: B2,k3,(yo,k2tog) x3,k2,B2.
Row 7: B2,k2,(yo,ktog)x4,k1,B2.
Row 9: B2,k1,(yo,k2tog)x5,B2.
Row 11: B2,k2,(yo,k2tog,)x4,k1,B2,
Row 13: B2,k3,(yo,k2tog )x3,k2,B2.
Row 15: B2,k4,(yo,k2tog) x2,k3,B2.
Row 17: B2, *k*,B2,
Row 19: Ssk,*k*,k2tog
Row 20: *k*

Repeat Rows 19-20 till 3 stitches remain, then sl1-k2tog-psso.
Weave in the ends.

Crochet a chain for desired length. end and cut a long tail. Sew one end
to point of tag. Other end use to tie tassel top.

Tassel:
Wrap yarn around three fingers till desired thickness of tassel, slide off
fingers. use chain thread to tie top of tassel, secure, leave long strand.
gather yarn and tie with a 9" thread, wrapping it several times around,
secure with a knot. Cut tassel, incorporating chain yarn and tassel wrap
yarn.

Finishing:
If desired, starch book tag. Cut out a card stock shape the same as the
book tag, punch hole at top thread tassel through the hole. Use the card
stock to create a gift tag for your book tag.


Sample Knitted in: Country Cotton Cabled Article 940 #4 Ecru  using size 7 (US) needle.
