Tapestry Needle, Size h Hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

                   

                    Gauge:

With H Hook: 4 sc = 1"; 4 sc rows = 1"

 

            Special Stitches:

Front Post Stitch (fp)/Back Post Stitch (bp): Yo, insert hook from right to left around post of st on previous row. Complete as double crochet.

 

 

 

 

                     DIRECTIONS:

Row 1: Ch 164, dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in each ch across, turn. (162)

Rows 2-3: Ch 2, (fp in next 4 sts, bp in next 4 sts) 20 times, hdc in last st, turn.

Rows 4-5: Ch 2, (bp in next 4 sts, fp in next 4 sts) 20 times, hdc in last st, turn.

Rows 6-147: Repeat rows 2-5 consecutively.

Row 148: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off, do not turn.

Row 149: Join with sc in first ch on opposite side of starting ch, sc in each ch across. Fasten off.

Fringe: For each fringe, cut 1 strand 14" long, fold strand in half, insert hook in st, pull fold through st, pull ends through fold, tighten. make one fringe in each stitch on rows 148 and 149.

Hint: To fringe evenly; lay afghan our on flat surface; smooth and straighten fringe. Measure and mark straight line across fringe with scotch tape just beyond 6" from fold of fringe. This will give a straight edge to your fringe and a bonus-all the trimmed ends are stuck to the tape. No mess to clean up!
