pattern in any form, or pass it off as your own.

Fits waist size: Average: S-L, Large: 1X-3X
Sizes are approximate, the elastic waist skirt
makes the design very flexible)
Skirt is designed to be ankle-length, however, the
length can be custom altered as desired.
Supplies:
* 2 Cones Petalspun will be more than enough for both sizes.
OR 2 - Giant balls (2730 yards each) size 10 thread (such as Article 74) (more
for larger) OR similar yardage in size 5 thread such as (Article 960)
* 2-3 yards muslin
* Size E (3.5mm), F (4.0mm)
* 1-2 yds 1/2" wide elastic
* (Dye as desired)
Notes:
This pattern is intended to be loose and lacey.
If using size 10 thread, pattern worked with 2 strands held together throughout.
Skirt is worked from the hem up toward the waist.
Skirt length will stretch slightly after completed.
Using cotton thread will result in a heavier weight skirt, the Petalspun rayon
will have a lighter result.
Gauge: Try to come close to this gauge. However, minor differences will
not significantly affect the end result. It will however, affect your yardage.
Pineapple in pattern: ~3.5 inches from base “V” to top point where shells meet
(above open space at top of pineapple.
~2” wide at widest point, not including shells.
Special Stitches:
Beg shell: (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in st indicated
Shell: (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in st/sp indicated
Customizing:
1. Skirt is "petite-able": If you are shorter (approx 5' tall) work oneor two
fewer round of pineapples before the first decrease
2. If you are taller (5'10” or more) you may want to add a round of pineapple
repeats before the first decrease.
3. If you prefer a shorter skirt, work one or two fewer rounds of pineapple
repeats before the first decrease.
4. For Larger size, skip first decrease, work one extra round of pineapples
before working your decrease section. Then follow directions after last decrease
to end.

and works one more complete pineapple)

- Repeat 22-27 (decrease rounds) (skip this step
for XL sizes)
- Repeat step 7-10
NOTE: You need to end on a repeat of round 10. However, you will want to
hold this to just below your waist to check on the length...remember cotton
will pull and stretch with the weight of the garment)
- Sl st to ch-2 sp. Ch 1, sc in same sp. (Ch 3,
sc in next ch space) around. Join to first sc.
- Ch 1, (3 sc in next ch-3 sp) around. Join.
- Using F hook, Ch 1, sc in same st, and each st
around., Join.
- Ch 1, sc in same st and each st around. Join
- Repeat step 35, 4 times more (7 rounds sc,
total). FO
- Fold sc band over to inside, sew in place,
leaving opening for inserting elastic.
- Cut elastic to fit your waist snugly (stretch
it a bit, otherwise skirt will slip off your waist) add one inch for sewing.
Thread elastic into casing, overlap 1/2" of each end, and sew firmly
together. Let slide into casing, and sew opening closed.
- (Make liner)Sew muslin into tube, by sewing
short sides together. Measure sides, and mark in a fewl inches from side
edges on waist edge, slightly wider than half of your waist measurement
(you're making some shaping) draw a line from your marks to a spot about 1/3
of the way down on the side. (like a dart) Sew along this line, and cut off
extra triangle.
- Dye skirt and underskirt as desired. (I used
tie-dye dyes, following instructions on packaging). Underskirt should be a
shade different than skirt, to show off your stitching.
- Sew underskirt into skirt at bottom edge of
waistband.
NOTE: If you can find a ready-made slip that co-ordinates with your skirt,
life is much easier. You can tack the slip in place, or not, as you prefer.
